Where's Katie? (revisited)

At one month old:
(see original Where's Katie post in April 2008)

At six months old:

(The more things change, the more they stay the same)

Six Months Old!!!

Today is my 6 month birthday!!!  I have spent the last 1/2 year growing and learning and playing and growing some more.  I weigh 20 pounds now!  My clothes are almost all 9 months (or 6-9 months) and I'm almost growing out of those already!  I have 2 teeth (on the bottom) and I might be working on a couple more up top.

I have eaten rice cereal, green beans, and squash.  I like squash more than green beans, but they both taste okay.  Eating all these new foods is exciting, but it is also very tiring...

My favorite thing to do lately is bounce.  I bounce in my exersaucer.  I bounce in my jumperoo.  I bounce when people hold me.  I bounce on my hands and knees on the floor.  I just love to bounce!

I sit up completely by myself now.  I don't need any help at all.  I could sit up all day long if I wanted to (but usually I like to sit for a while, then I start bouncing, and just for fun I throw myself backwards, just to see if Mommy and Daddy are paying attention to me.  They always are, so they catch me!  (But just in case, they leave the Boppy pillow behind me on the floor.)

I am enjoying bath time more these days.  I can sit up in my ducky tub and I even have some toys to play with.  I love to splash the water with my hands, and I especially enjoy trying to eat the washcloth.
I talk a lot these days, but don't say much.  I love to babble.  Sometimes Mommy thinks she hears me say "Ma-ma" but it's always in the middle of 100 other sounds.  Soon enough, Mommy, soon enough.

Sometimes when I'm getting lots of kisses (which is, like, always) I start making the smoochy noise.  I love kisses and hugs.

I am also starting to hold my hands out for people to hold me.  When Mommy picks me up from daycare, and my teacher is holding me, I hold my hands out for Mommy as soon as she walks in the door.  I know this makes Mommy and Daddy feel special.  That's why I do it.

I also get so excited sometimes that I kick my feet and wave my arms.  The excitement is just so much I cannot contain it.  This also makes people feel special, so I do it whenever someone looks at me and talks to me.  Especially people I love.

Today for my 6th month birthday we went out for dinner with Pop and Honey and Aunt Colleen.  We ate at Chick-fil-a (they had chicken while I ate squash).  I actually sat in a high chair there!  It was only my 2nd time sitting in a high chair in a restaurant!  Then, afterwards, they came over to my house and Pop took some pictures of me.  Here's a link so you can see all the pictures he took:

So, as you can see I have enjoyed my 6th month.  My first 1/2 year of life has been great.  Bring on the next .5 year.  Before you know it I will be ONE YEAR OLD!!!

Slowly taking over ... :)

Since I have been moving around a lot lately, my mommy and daddy decided I need more space to move and play.  So ... they sent the dining room table to the basement!  Here is our new dining room furniture:

I really love my new play space.  I get to have all my toys out without having to share them with Maggie (which I don't really mind, but for some reason Mommy doesn't like it when I let Maggie chew on my toys).  Some of my toys can even hang up on the sides of the play yard.  Now that I have my own space I am sure I will be able to figure out that crawling thing soon!

In other news:
As you know I have been branching out and trying new foods.  So far I have eaten rice cereal and green beans.  My mommy and daddy can't figure out if I like the green beans or not.  I take one bite and eat it all up like it's yummy.  Then I take another bite and make the icky face and spit it out.  Really, I like the green beans, but I just like to keep Mommy and Daddy guessing.  Here I am in my new eating chair.  It's fun to eat and play in that chair!

Lots of Stuff

I know it's been a while since I last posted.  That's because Mommy and I have been super busy lately.  She is stressing out at work a lot, so I have to work super hard to help her have fun when we're home after school.  And, since she is the one who normally helps me blog, we've both taken a little break from the blog.  A lot has happened in the past couple of weeks, so I will try to catch you up just a little bit.  On August 23rd we celebrated Daddy's birthday.  I got him a card and drew a special picture in it just for him.  I wanted to draw more but Mommy kept taking the markers away from me before I was done!  I read the card to Daddy on his birthday.

I have recently decided that I can get pretty far by rolling and I have even started to practice getting my knees under me and my bottom up in the air so that I can start crawling soon.  Here's a video of my new talents:

I've also really discovered my feet recently and even like to hold on to them while I'm napping just to make sure they don't run off without me!

With all the rolling that I'm doing during the day, I cannot help but roll during the night as well.  So, many times over the past couple of weeks my Mommy and Daddy have found me like this in the morning (even though they put me down on my back to sleep).

This past weekend we went to Hilton Head Island again.  The last time I was there, I was only four weeks old.  It was a lot more fun this time.  I was a little sick (first cold from daycare) so I didn't spend a lot of time on the beach, but I did go swimming.  It was a fun,
 relaxing weekend at the beach!

(My Grampa said this is how golfers wear their sunglasses on top of their hats.)

That brings us to this week.  It has been a busy week ... back to work and school, but I have started eating semi-solid foods this week (mostly just rice cereal so far ... next week I will start on some vegetables).  I did sneak a teeny piece of lettuce when we were watching the UGA football game on Saturday.  My daddy thought he saw me sneak something and chew it, but I was so sneaky that they couldn't find anything in my mouth and didn't know if I really
ate it until the next morning (if you know what I mean...).
Here are some pictures of my rice cereal experience:

As you can tell I have been a busy girl.  I will try to make time to update the blog more often.  Maybe soon you might see a video of me crawling...

Look what I can do!

I am getting really good at sitting up.  It is my new favorite thing to do.  I can sit up unassisted for a long time.

Oops!  I still lose my balance sometimes!

Sitting up and playing with my toys is even more fun than lying on my stomach and playing with my toys!

Aren't I super awesome?

Chattanooga!

On Saturday we went on a fun day trip to Chattanooga! We stopped on the way there to do a little outlet shopping (mostly for me!). I got lots of new clothes for cheap! Then we continued on to Chattanooga where we visited the Aquarium and walked around the town. It was fun. I especially loved the penguins. It was SO funny when they swam up next to me at the window and swooshed by! I laughed and squealed at almost every exhibit.

Some of us petted the stingrays (not me)

I saw a butterfly up close!

Almost eaten by a shark!!!

Having fun with the fishies

It was a fun day! I hope we can go back again soon!
