On my birthday!
With the party and all the important birthday 'stuff' going on the past couple of weeks I did not ever post my 12 month update! So, here ya go ... just a little bit late!
I went to the doctor the day after my birthday. I weigh 24 pounds, 11 ounces (93rd percentile), I am 30.25 inches tall (86th percentile) and my head circumference was in the 85th percentile. The nurses commented that I was "so proportionate!" I got 3 shots, and didn't even cry at all until halfway through the second one. I pouted for a second, then sat up and said, "Hi!" Mommy was a little worried for a second that I didn't seem to feel the shots, but she got over it because she was happy that I wasn't screaming.
Talking:
This month I seem to have stopped saying a lot of the words I was saying before. Here are some words I haven't said in a while:
"He-wo!" Instead I just say, "Hi!" (to everyone ... while waving like a beauty queen)
"Dahg" (dog)
"shirt" (thank goodness - no more getting in trouble for bad words at school.)
I have started saying some new words this month:
"Uh-oh"
"Mama" (I have said this before, but not much ... usually "Daddy" goes for any parental figure).
"Baby"
(There are more, but I can't think of them right now.)
I still say:
"Daddy" "Maggie" "Katie" (all of which sound very similar ... you have to listen very carefully, or you will think I am just saying "Daddy" for all of these.)
"Mmm-mm-mmm."
"Woah!"
"Shoe."
I talk and babble with more expression, and I have started shaking my head "no." I have also started shrieking LOUDLY for no reason at all. I think this is super fun, especially because Mommy and Daddy seem to think it isn't so much fun.
I have started blowing kisses this month. Whenever anyone says, "bye-bye," I start blowing them kisses. Even the old guys at Home Depot. Daddy said we would have to have a talk about this one...
I have also started making an angry face. My friend Walker taught me this. Mommy laughs at it though ... she says it's a poor attempt at angry.
An example of my angry face (might be more effective if I wasn't smiling, huh?)
Playing:
I have played mostly with baby dolls this month. I love to take care of my babies (plus also Elmo). I change their diapers, feed them bottles, put them in the booster chair, and rock them to sleep. I still talk on the phone a lot too, but this month's theme is definitely taking care of babies.
Getting Elmo in his chair for a snack.
Taking care of baby.
One of my other favorite games this month has been to find my belly button. I even love to look for Mommy's belly button, and blow on her tummy like all those silly grown ups do to me.
Where's my belly button!?
I also LOVE to play the piano. I will crawl/cruise over to it several times a day, just to play a little tune. It's so much fun!!
Walking:
I am still trying to get the hang of this walking thing. On my birthday (March 11) I took three steps. I did it only because Mommy and Daddy kept begging me to. After that, I was done and now I think it's much more fun to just stand up and dive toward wherever I'm headed. I can move around the entire house and go wherever I want to go by cruising along the furniture or scaling the walls, so what's the point!?
Ok, enough for now. More later! Bye!
